Varde Kommune
Back to casesThere was no lack for volume when Varde municipality decided to gather their 30+ subsites on a single platform. The solution became flexible and very attractive for both the employees and the citizens it was meant for.
Problem
Change of platform turned out to be just right
Varde Kommune needed a platform that was easy to maintain. It needed be a flexible and able to handle more than 30 different subsites, which consist of websites for various institutions and offers to the municipality's citizens. Features and integrations from the old site should of course be transferred to the new platform.
The plan
Recycling was a good option for Varde Kommune.
The plan was to take the existing code base, in order to build a 1: 1 version in WordPress. Which means, that we could reuse some of the logic system that already existed.
Result
Varde Kommune now has a scalable solution
The result was the expected 1:1 solution of the previous website, however with an upgraded design on selected sites to give the website a contemporary feel. Now, Varde Kommune has a scalable solution that they can maintain to a greater extent themselves and build on in the future.
Several projects in one
A flexible solution was the path to greater collaboration
The collaboration with Varde Kommune kick-started a longer and larger collaboration between Varde Kommune and Morningtrain. The new flexible backend solution has been so attractive to the municipality's employees that the municipality chose to move more projects over to our installation.

Close communication was a major key
Weekly status meetings were held, where we gave an update on initiated tasks, and got an overview of the tasks for the coming week.
During the collaboration, there was focus on training all the users of the various solutions. And there were a lot of them due to many different projects that we have made over time with Varde Kommune. Therefore, we needed to collaborate with different project managers and teams on the various projects, to ensure that the workflow was kept and the end user had the understanding of it.
